Roundtable of Representatives of the Legal Communities of Uzbekistan and Hong Kong

On 27 August, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan hosted a roundtable bringing together representatives of the legal communities of Uzbekistan and Hong Kong.

The event was attended by representatives of leading law firms, arbitration institutions and professional legal organisations from both sides. The VERBA LEGAL team was represented by Bobur Karimov, Managing Partner of the Tashkent office, Ernest Khachatourian, Counsel, as well as lawyers Sarvarbek Olimzhonov and Bobur Rakhmatov.

The meeting focused on the specific features of interaction between different legal systems — civil law in mainland China and common law in Hong Kong — as well as practical approaches to addressing emerging legal issues, drawing on the experience of Hong Kong’s legal community. This topic is particularly relevant for Uzbekistan in light of the development of the Tashkent International Financial Centre (TIFC), whose judicial system will be based on common law principles.
