Alexander focuses on dispute resolution and advises and represents Russian and foreign companies, as well as individuals, in commercial (arbitrazh) courts and courts of general jurisdiction, primarily in commercial, contractual and corporate disputes.
Prior to joining the firm’s dispute resolution practice, Alexander advised clients and supported transactions in the areas of land, real estate and construction, conducted legal due diligence of real estate assets, and interacted with public authorities.
Selected Experience
Alexander advised:
a leading multinational chemical group in precedent-setting disputes against a Russian gas company arising out of EPC contracts for the construction of a gas processing plant under Article 248.1 of the Russian Arbitrazh Procedure Code (aggregate amount in dispute exceeding RUB 200 billion);
a global industrial gases producer in a damages claim (exceeding RUB 85 billion) arising from a fire at the world’s largest gas processing plant;
the parent companies of a multinational chemical group in proceedings concerning an anti-suit injunction under Article 248.2 of the Russian Arbitrazh Procedure Code initiated by a Russian gas company, as well as the imposition of penalties exceeding RUB 200 billion for alleged violations of such injunction;
a project involving the registration of land rights in favour of a concessionaire for the purposes of implementing a linear infrastructure construction project across several regions of Russia;
legal due diligence of real estate assets for one of Russia’s largest food retailers operating nationwide retail chains;
legal due diligence of seaport infrastructure assets and advised on the establishment of a fishing port in the Russian Far East.
