The 20th package of EU sanctions, adopted on 23 April 2026, continues the trajectory of expanding and deepening the existing restrictive measures imposed on Russia under Council Regulation (EU) No 269/2014 and Council Regulation (EU) No 833/2014.
This package combines a targeted expansion of designated persons and entities with enhanced trade and financial restrictions, alongside the introduction of new mechanisms aimed at preventing sanctions circumvention and safeguarding the interests of EU companies.
Particular emphasis is placed on monitoring supply chains, alternative payment mechanisms, and transactions involving third countries, as well as addressing risks arising from litigation and the application in Russia of temporary administration measures over assets of certain European entities.
