Alexey works as an attorney in the dispute settlement practice with his principal area of expertise being the settlement of complex legal disputes. His professional interests include corporate and commercial disputes, along with individual bankruptcy disputes.

Selected Experience

Commercial Disputes

Alexey advised:

the world's largest fashion retailer in a series of lease disputes over recovery of damages for failure to conduct commercial activities amounting to RUB 1.5 billion; as a result of support, the client's potential liability was reduced to RUB 6 million;

United Colors of Benetton in a precedent-setting case for judicial termination of a long-term lease agreement due to material change of circumstances during COVID-19; the lease agreement was terminated based on Article 451 of the Russian Civil Code;

a foreign company in a dispute with a mining enterprise over recognition as invalid of agreements worth over USD 1.4 million;

a Chinese company in a Russian court in a case for recovery from the largest international investor of debt exceeding USD 55 million;

a client in a case for recovery of debt from a tin mining enterprise exceeding RUB 1 billion.

Corporate Disputes

Alexey advised:

a minority shareholder in a large-scale corporate conflict involving the largest company in pipeline and onshore construction, encompassing around 70 court disputes with aggregate claims over RUB 3.5 billion; the dispute was settled through a comprehensive settlement agreement;

a major corporate conflict around a bakery plant, including over 20 parallel court proceedings;

a precedent-setting dispute protecting a beneficiary from recovery of damages within bankruptcy proceedings exceeding RUB 500 million;

founders in a series of disputes for recovery of damages exceeding RUB 500 million from the former general director of a major development company in KhMAO; following recovery, his personal bankruptcy proceedings and property restructuring were initiated;

a former general director in a dispute brought by one of Russia's largest BAD distributors for recovery of damages exceeding RUB 500 million;

a former general director in a series of disputes for recovery of damages arising from a corporate conflict related to change of ownership, exceeding RUB 330 million.

Separate Disputes in Bankruptcy

Alexey advised:

a client before the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation in a precedent-setting dispute over attracting a "shadow" beneficiary to subsidiary liability;

a series of precedent-setting separate disputes within the bankruptcy case of an issuer, related to determining priority of claims — collective (including NPO and NRD) or individual bondholder claims;

a real estate purchaser in a series of disputes on bank applications for recognition of transactions as invalid on special bankruptcy grounds exceeding RUB 950 million;

a client in a case for subordination of a majority creditor's claim — the largest international investor — exceeding RUB 350 million;

a client in a case protecting against subordination of a creditor's claims within bankruptcy proceedings exceeding RUB 480 million.
