On May 15, 2025, a conference titled "Disputes in Western Forums: Winning Strategies for Russian Parties" was held as part of the Russian International Arbitration Congress. The event took place at Four Seasons Moscow Hotel and was simultaneously broadcast online, allowing a wide audience to join the discussion.
Up until 2022, Russian companies would routinely have pro-Western arbitration clauses included in their contracts. Many of the relevant disputes are still pending to this day. However, recent geopolitical changes have ushered in new challenges: payment difficulties, the bias on the part of certain arbitrators, foreign lawyers and experts unwilling to cooperate with Russian parties. Lawyers from Europe and Singapore that had been invited to take part in the event talked about how to efficiently conduct arbitration in these conditions.
We thank all participants and experts for their dedication and valuable presentations!
