Legal Insight summarised the study of cases that had changed the legal reality in 2023. The case of our sanctions team on unblocking Euroclear accounts took first place among sanctions disputes of the year.

On 5 April, Legal Insight summed up the results of The CASE by Legal Insight. The case of the VERBA LEGAL sanctions team on unblocking Euroclear accounts took first place among the sanctions projects of the year.

The team led by Tatyana Neveeva was the first in Russia to achieve the execution of a Belgian Ministry of Finance licence for the release of an individual investor's assets, obtained a licence for a person without a European residence permit and challenged several denials of assets release.

By coincidence, on the day of the ceremony, it became known that VERBA LEGAL lawyers obtained another licence for assets release – based on an individual application submitted after the deadline. This victory is the first known case in Russia of obtaining a licence for assets release after the application deadline, i.e. 7 January 2023.

The project team also included Marat Samarsky (Counsel) and Yulia Koroleva (Junior Lawyer).
